The growing need for healthcare in our country is providing more opportunities for all pharmacy students every day. The salary is also much better than 50% of the jobs in India. If you have someone to guide you along the way, it will be easier for you to choose the type of courses. However, those who do not have too much contact with the pharmacy will find it difficult to choose a circuit. After graduation, you can work in a variety of positions in a pharmacy. Whether in pharmacy, research, pharmacognosy or other fields, there are many job opportunities.

(a) Diploma course
The pharmacy is divided into several categories. Allopathy, veterinary medicine, herbal medicine, management, quality control, and vigilance are some of the options to choose from. The duration of the courses varies from 1 to 3 years, depending on the type of course you choose. You can graduate at UG or PG level. Here’s a list of some of the most popular pharmacy schools:
- Two-year programs: Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Management, Veterinary Medicine, PGDM in Analytical and Engineering Chemistry.
- 1 to 3-year programs: These are mainly postgraduate programs. It covers MDMP in herbal products, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical pharmacology, pharmacovigilance, quality control, and pharmacological regulatory issues.
(b) University pharmacy
A bachelor’s degree in pharmacy is more important than a diploma. After taking these courses, your salary and job prospects are higher than those of graduate students. In addition, the duration of the training is usually 4 to 5 years, depending on the course you want to take. Here are the details of some UG Pharmacy courses in India:
- (i) Single diploma: It only has one diploma. You can take any of these courses. However, if you want to benefit from the knowledge of two different courses in one, go to the next point. The following is a list of UG pharmacy programs:

In these courses, you will learn the basics of pharmacology. These are all four-year courses.
- (ii) Double Degree: With a dual degree, you will have more exposure to the medical and commercial aspects of pharmacy. This will allow you to develop your overall skills, and it will be easier for you to develop your business if you use your skills appropriately. This is a five-year course. A dual program is two different programs in one.

(c) Postgraduate courses in pharmacy
As with any undergraduate program, postgraduate programs follow; similarly, in pharmacy, there are postgraduate programs. However, the choice is yours. If you want to understand everything you learned in the English courses in detail, you should also take the German courses. Most of the students today prefer to pursue postgraduate studies in the field of pharmacy as it opens up many opportunities for you in the future.
Postgraduate studies in pharmacy usually last two years. However, this is not the case in all faculties of pharmacy. Most of the reputed universities offer this course. (d) Doctoral studies in pharmacy
A Doctor of Pharmacy degree gives you permission to work in our country in the fields of higher research, forensic, clinical, industrial, and manufacturing. It is considered one of the highest grades in pharmacy. Once it’s done, the opportunities to find work locally, nationally, and internationally are multiplied several times over. So if you have the time, money, and talent, we encourage you to enroll in a doctoral program. These diplomas last 3 years. Who can benefit from these courses?
Demand for the high school diploma is highest in the GCP sector, with an overall score of 50% or more.
Then you have to meet the requirements of exams such as the TSEAMCET, the WBJEE or the APEAMCET to be admitted to the UG pharmacy courses.
To gain admission to PG courses you must have a quality MA with 50% or more from a recognised pharmacy school.
Next, you need to get permission or apply to write the GPAT exam.
What is the salary?
You can go into a variety of areas including research, clinical practice, business, management, commerce, and litigation. The salary scale depends on two main factors: your qualifications and the sector in which you want to work. The usual rate in a pharmacy, if there is no pharmacy, ranges from 2 to 12 times a year.
