24th of February, 2014 Here’s what I’ve been working on for you this weekend. A selection of useful resources for science instructors is provided below. Lesson plans, handouts, exercises, technological tools, and more are all available via these resources for teaching science. I encourage you to have a look and pass it on to your coworkers.
1- Videos that are released on a regular basis
This is a periodic chart of chemical elements (about 180) with an accompanying movie for each element. The University of Nottingham has completed this excellent project.
2- Getting to Know Science
The National Science Foundation sponsored the Understanding Science site, which was created by the University of California at Berkeley’s UC Museum of Paleontology in cooperation with a broad collection of scientists and instructors. This portal offers instructors and students with a broad range of scientific resources.
3- Science Resources for Teachers
This is a fantastic Pinterest board for teachers that is chock-full of scientific materials.
4- Science show
This is one of YouTube’s most watched science channels. Science news, history, and ideas are discussed on SciShow.
5- Exploration Education
Discovery Education provides a wide variety of free classroom tools to supplement and extend learning after the bell rings. This website contains a variety of scientific lesson plans and other classroom resources.
6- Smithsonian Institution scientist
This website includes a list of Smithonian scientists as well as films about their work and what they do.
The National Science Teachers Association is number seven.
This is the official website of the National Scientific Teachers Association, where you can find a variety of free science materials for you and your school.
8- Science-Related Websites
The American Association for the Advancement of Scientific’s Science NetLinks is a renowned K-12 science education resource. Teaching resources, interactives, podcasts, and hands-on activities are all available for free at Science NetLinks.
Teachers’ Guide to Science Projects, No. 10
The Teacher’s Guide to Scientific Projects was created to provide instructors everything they need to assign, administer, and assess a science project program in the classroom, as well as a variety of suggestions for making science projects a pleasant educational experience. While this book is geared at instructors who have never given a scientific project before, it also includes a number of tools and ideas that seasoned educators may find helpful.
11- Science of Planting
PlantingScience is a learning community where scientists coach student teams as they develop and think through their own inquiry projects over the internet. Science learning is enhanced by participating in the scientific process and being acquainted with scientific procedures.
12- Science-Teaching Technology Resources
This page from Edtech Teacher lists a variety of resources for science instructors, including anything from biology and chemistry websites to medical and nanoscience teaching materials.
Laura Candler’s Science Resources (nineteenth)
Laura’s Science File Cabinet is located here. For the upper elementary or middle school science classroom, you’ll discover hundreds of free printables and useful internet connections here.
EdHeads (14), EdHeads (14), EdHeads
Edheads is a free online educational resource that offers critical thinking games and exercises in science and math. Simple Machines, Virtual Knee Surgery, and Stem Cell Heart Repair are just a few of the options. All of the activities adhere to state and national guidelines.
There are 15 Ted Talks about Science. Mashable has selected and published five fascinating TED presentations about science.
Teach The Earth (number 16)
Thousands of pages of activities, workshops, course descriptions, and more may be found on this website. Hundreds of geoscience instructors worked on more than a dozen projects.
Phet Interactive Simulations (nineteen)
Here you’ll find entertaining, interactive, research-based simulations of physical events from the University of Colorado’s PhETTM project.
Science Daily, number 18
SienceDaily is one of the most popular scientific news websites on the Internet. ScienceDaily has something for everyone, with over 65,000 research articles, 15,000 pictures, 2,500 encyclopedia entries, 1,500 book reviews, and hundreds of instructional videos.
19- The Comic Book Periodic Table
You may click on any element in The Periodic Table of Comic Books to view a list of comic book pages featuring that element. To view a complete comic book page, click on a thumbnail in the list. Follow the link to Mark Winter’s WebElements for technical details on each element.
Biology in Motion (#20) BiologyInMotion! Here you’ll discover animations, interactive exercises, and cartoons that will help you study biology in a more fun and engaging way.
Sumana Science Resources (#21)
Sumanas creates animated lessons for a wide range of scientific subjects in a number of forms.
Earth Exploration Toolkit (#22)
The Earth Exploration Toolbook (EET) is a collection of online Earth system scientific activities created by teams of scientists and educators. Each activity, or chapter, presents one or more scientific data sets and analytical tools, allowing users to investigate a different component of the Earth system.
The virtual body is number 23
Learn more about the anatomy of the human body. The skeleton, heart, brain, and digestive system are all discussed, as well as how they operate.
24- The ability to move.
The American Association for the Advancement of Science created Kineticcity. Kineticcity offers an incredible array of scientific experiments, games, activities, and challenges.
Scitable is number 25.
Nature Publishing Group, the world’s largest scientific publisher, has created Scitable, a free science library and personal learning tool. Scitable’s present focus is on genetics and cell biology, which covers subjects such as evolution, gene expression, and the vast complexity of biological processes that all living creatures share.
